Baroque Drinking Songs

Vache Baroque

Friday 07 August

Turn back the clock to Baroque-era Europe and enjoy a soul-warming tipple of musical entertainment from the award-winning Vache Baroque.

Baroque Drinking Songs is an immersive, highly interactive concert experience that transports audiences back to Baroque‑era Europe.

Presented by the award‑winning ensemble Vache Baroque, the evening celebrates Baroque‑era revelry in cellar‑inspired drinking songs, jigs, shanties, and singalongs by composers including Purcell, Handel, Cozzolani and Jenkins. Characters from across the Baroque imagination—gods, lowly humans, royalty, revellers, and sailors—populate the event in a spirited, theatrical atmosphere.

Guided and hosted by Thomas Guthrie (Lucia di Lammermoor, 2024) alongside the minstrels of Vache Baroque, the evening moves through scenes and characters spanning the social spectrum—from mythic gods to sailors and common revellers—inviting the audience to join in and embrace joyful raucousness as part of the fun.

THE COWSHED BY HOMEWOOD

Following its successful debut in 2025, The Cowshed by Homewood makes its return to If Opera for a second year, bringing an immersive dining experience back to Church Farm.

This season, the experience remains rooted in a celebration of Mediterranean-inspired, fire-cooked cuisine. Guests are invited to journey through a menu that celebrates Somerset’s finest produce, with locally sourced meats expertly flame-seared on the Somerset grill. Complementing these bold flavours are vibrant, fresh small plates harvested from our very own No-Dig Kitchen Garden, all paired with a signature wine selection curated by our esteemed partners.

Book your table (which is yours for the evening) and enjoy a delicious menu of locally sourced produce before an evening of spectacular music.
